AI Image Upscaler (2× / 4×)
2× and 4× AI upscaling — sharp, natural detail.
AI image upscaling without the over-sharpened, plastic look you get from generic upscalers. AuraSR is a Real-ESRGAN-based model trained specifically to handle AI-generated images and low-res photos, recovering natural detail without hallucinating fake textures. 2× upscale at 3 ⚡ for everyday use, 4× upscale at 5 ⚡ for hero / print quality. Perfect for upscaling Flux Schnell outputs to 4K, restoring old WhatsApp photos, or making product shots print-ready.
How Image Upscaler (2× / 4×) works
- 1
Upload your image
JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 20 MB. Works on photos, illustrations, screenshots, AI-generated images. Source can be any resolution from 256×256 upward — even tiny thumbnails upscale cleanly.
- 2
Pick 2× or 4×
2× (3 ⚡) for moderate enlargements — good for social posts, blog headers, screen viewing. 4× (5 ⚡) for hero shots, billboards, print, anything that'll be scrutinised at high zoom. Both produce the same source resolution × multiplier output.
- 3
Generate + download
Renders in 8-20 seconds depending on output size. Output is PNG. Pair with our Background Remover or AI Enhance for full retouching. Commercial use OK.

Frequently asked questions
Is AuraSR better than Topaz Gigapixel or generic Real-ESRGAN?
AuraSR is a fine-tuned Real-ESRGAN variant optimised for the kinds of images creators actually upload — AI-generated content, social media exports, phone photos. Generic Real-ESRGAN is ok but adds slight plastic texture; AuraSR keeps the natural look. Topaz Gigapixel is comparable quality but costs $99-$200 as desktop software vs our 3-5 credits per image.
Will faces look weird after upscaling?
Faces hold up well at 2×. At 4× on small source faces, you may see slight softening — this is a Real-ESRGAN limitation, not specific to us. For faces specifically, run through our AI Enhance / Face Restoration tool (22 ⚡) instead — it uses CodeFormer, which is purpose-built for face recovery.
How much detail can it really recover?
AuraSR fills in plausible detail based on what it learned during training — it's not magic. A 256×256 source upscaled 4× to 1024×1024 will look better than nearest-neighbour but won't match a native 1024 capture. Best results: source images that are sharp at their original size. Garbage in = polished garbage out.
What's the maximum output resolution?
20 MB input limit caps source at roughly 4096×4096. 4× of that = 16,384×16,384 — but we cap output at 8192×8192 for compute reasons. For print-resolution outputs (300 DPI A4 = ~3508×2480), 4× from a 1024 source covers it cleanly.
Does it work on screenshots and graphics?
Yes — actually one of AuraSR's strengths. Sharp edges (text, UI elements, logos) hold up better than they would in generic photo upscalers, which often blur fine lines. Useful for upgrading legacy 1× screenshots to 2× / 4× for modern Retina displays.
Can I batch-upscale?
Currently one-at-a-time in the UI. For bulk runs (10+ images), use the API directly — same 3-5 ⚡ per image, scriptable from your end. We'll consider a UI batch mode if there's demand.
