DALL-E 3 AI Image Generator
OpenAI's DALL-E 3 — illustrative and whimsical.
DALL-E 3 is OpenAI's flagship image model — the most "creative" AI image generator in our catalog. Where Flux excels at photorealism and Ideogram nails text, DALL-E 3 is best for illustrative art, whimsical scenes, abstract concepts, children's book illustrations, and anything stylised. Two tiers: Standard 1024×1024 at 11 ⚡, HD at 22 ⚡ (sharper detail). Direct OpenAI API access — no ChatGPT subscription required.
How DALL-E 3 AI Image Generator works
- 1
Pick Standard or HD
Standard (11 ⚡): faster, good quality, default for most uses. HD (22 ⚡): sharper detail, better for posters / print. Both render at 1024×1024 by default; 1024×1792 (portrait) and 1792×1024 (landscape) also available.
- 2
Write a descriptive prompt
DALL-E 3 rewards storytelling prompts more than tag lists. Instead of "cat, watercolor, blue background", try "A whimsical watercolour painting of a curious orange cat peeking out from behind a vintage blue sofa, soft brushstrokes, children's-book style". The model picks up on narrative context.

Frequently asked questions
When should I use DALL-E 3 vs Flux 1.1 Pro?
DALL-E 3 for stylised / illustrative output: cartoon, watercolour, anime-influenced, whimsical, abstract. Flux 1.1 Pro for photorealistic output: real people, real products, real-world scenes. Test both with the same prompt to see which the model treats your idea more interestingly.
Why is DALL-E 3 priced at 11/22 credits?
OpenAI charges $0.04 (Standard) and $0.08 (HD) per image. At our 60% margin formula, that's ~11 ⚡ and ~22 ⚡ — passed through directly. We don't mark up DALL-E because OpenAI sets the floor and we don't want to be uncompetitive.
Does DALL-E 3 render text accurately?
Better than Flux but worse than Ideogram. Short text (1-3 words) often comes out correctly; longer phrases get mangled. For text-heavy designs, use Ideogram. For decorative text within illustrations, DALL-E is fine.
Can I use DALL-E 3 outputs commercially?
Yes — under OpenAI's current ToS, generated images can be used commercially. You own the outputs. We don't add extra restrictions on top.
What styles does DALL-E 3 nail?
Watercolour, oil painting, pixel art, low-poly 3D, comic book, manga-influenced, retro illustration, children's book, ukiyo-e, cyberpunk, fantasy art. It's also strong at "fake screenshots" of UI mockups and infographics.
Why is HD 2× the price of Standard?
HD uses ~2× the compute on OpenAI's side — sharper detail requires more inference passes. The price reflects that. For most uses (social posts, blog headers), Standard is enough. Reserve HD for print or 4K display.
