Pass 1: Clarity Upscaler sharpens overall detail, fixes compression artifacts, recovers texture. Pass 2: CodeFormer detects faces and runs targeted face restoration — reconstructs eyes, skin, hair where the input was too damaged for general upscaling. The two passes happen automatically in one job.

Frequently asked questions
Will my old family photos really look better?
Yes for most cases. Photos from the 90s/2000s scanned at low quality, faded prints, blurry shots from 2-megapixel phones — all see dramatic improvement. Photos that were completely unfocused or have lost regions (tears, water damage) won't fully recover; the AI fills in plausible detail but can't invent what was never captured.
How is this different from the free AI Upscaler (3-5 ⚡)?
The Upscaler increases resolution. The Enhancer fixes damage and recovers detail at the same resolution. Different jobs. For old photos: use Enhance first (fixes damage) → then Upscale if you need higher resolution. For AI-generated outputs that just need to be bigger: skip Enhance, use Upscale alone.
Why is Enhance 22 credits when Upscale is 3-5?
Two AI passes (Clarity + CodeFormer) using premium GPU compute. Clarity Upscaler alone is ~$0.08/run at the upstream provider; CodeFormer adds another ~$0.04. We bundle both at 22 ⚡ (~₹17.60 retail) for a margin that holds. Upscale uses one cheaper pass — different economics.
Does it work on illustrations and AI-generated art?
Yes — particularly strong on AI-generated faces with weird artifacts (extra fingers, distorted eyes, mangled mouths). CodeFormer cleans up the face, Clarity Upscaler tightens the rest. Useful when a Flux or DALL-E output has 90% of what you want but one bad face.
Can I restore black-and-white photos? Will it colorise?
It restores B&W photos as B&W — sharper, less damaged, but still B&W. We don't colorise as part of this tool. For colorisation, run the enhanced output through a separate colorisation tool (we may add one later if there's demand).
Do you keep my photos?
No. We process the image, return the enhanced output, and discard the input. Your photo isn't used for training, isn't shared, isn't retained beyond the request. The output is hosted on our R2 storage so you can download it; delete from your account anytime.
